Turning Tides Festival 2022
Greenwich Peninsula
Turning Tides Festival returned to Greenwich Peninsula in September 2022. Held shortly after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II we took the difficult decision to move the event to an indoor venue at Magazine London to be sensitive to public mourning and the residential setting we normally occupy in Tide Square.
At very short notice the team did a fantastic job of moving our entire festival set up across the peninsula on the morning of the event to create a festival atmosphere at Magazine.
The event featured an array of amazing musicians, notably the Ukrainian ‘ethnic chaos’ group Dakhabrakha who gave an extraordinary headline performance on Saturday night, supported by soul legend Ural Thomas & the Pain, alternative jazz singer muva of Earth, internationally acclaimed Ukrainain harpist Alina Bzhezhinska and her group Alina HipHarp blending electronic music with jazz/funk/hiphop. Plus rousing performances from South London Samba on the terrace.
Sunday was headlined by the explosive UK-based Afro Jazz 9 piece band Nubiyan Twist, with support from Nigerian born future soul artist Wayne Snow, Guinean born singer and percussionist Falle Nioke and Future-Afro Soul singer Fehdah. Plus roving performances from the wonderful Brixton Chamber Orchestra.
